The Feast of San Gennaro: A NYC Tradition You Gotta Experience

If you're in NYC this time of year, you can't miss the San Gennaro Feast. Running for over 11 days every September in Little Italy, it's one of the city’s most iconic street festivals, celebrating the patron saint of Naples, Saint Januarius (San Gennaro).

Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Food, Food, and More Food ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ: From zeppoles and cannolis to sausage-and-peppers and pizza, the feast is basically a foodie’s paradise. If you’ve got a sweet tooth or love Italian eats, this is your spot.

  2. Parades & Processions: The heart of the event is the Grand Procession where a statue of San Gennaro is carried through the streets. It's a way to honor the saint and keep the tradition alive.

  3. Music & Entertainment ๐ŸŽถ: You’ll hear live performances ranging from Italian folk music to local NYC talent. The vibe is super lively, with something always happening on every block.

  4. Carnival Rides & Games ๐ŸŽก: Perfect if you're with family or friends. There’s a ton of fun street games and rides for people of all ages.

The feast started back in 1926 when Italian immigrants wanted to bring a piece of their culture to the city. Today, it’s not just an Italian-American tradition but something all New Yorkers (and tourists) look forward to every year.

The 2024 Feast runs from September 12th to the 22nd on Mulberry Street. If you haven't been, definitely hit it up and soak in the culture. Whether you're there for the food, the music, or just the energy, you’re gonna love it.
