Where History Meets Hospitality: Killmeyer's in Staten Island

Killmeyer's is the oldest bar still open in Staten Island, located at 4254 Arthur Kill Rd. They offer a large variety of drinks as well as German cuisine. The bar has changed hands over the years, but the Killmeyer family purchased the land in 1859, and their influence is still prevalent today.

I visited this bar over the summer and had a fantastic time. The staff was friendly and welcoming, there was no wait time, and the drinks and food were excellent, which shows why this place has endured compared to other old bars in the borough that have recently closed.

Killmeyer's is also one of the few NYC establishments to win the prestigious Good Beer Seal. Their drink menu changes every season, keeping things fresh and exciting. Despite this accomplishment, they manage to keep prices affordable. My receipt came to just $21 for three German beers, which is a great value.

During the warm months, there's a spacious outdoor area where you can enjoy lunch or dinner from their diverse menu. The people I met here were very sociable, and overall, I had a wonderful experience. If you're in Staten Island and looking for drinks or a meal, definitely check out Killmeyer's
